    Chronis Aidonidis was a significant Greek folk music researcher, singer, music teacher, radio producer, and more. Born on December 23, 1928 in Karoti, Evros, Thrace, Greece - Died on October 23, 2023 in Athens, Greece.

    He was very important, among others as Δόμνα Σαμίου, for his music research, targeting on the lost Thracean folk music treasures, and other Greek/Byzantine traditional music in general, by transfering his deep knowledge to the younger generations of musicians/singers, recording, singing or teaching as well. His voice belongs to the most significant Greek (folk) singers.
    He co-founded the Αρχείο Ελληνικής Μουσικής and was the inspirator/founder of the Εργαστήρι Παραδοσιακής Μουσικής του Δήμου Αλεξανδρούπολης (Laboratory of Traditional Music, part of the Municipal Conservatory of Alexandroupolis, Thrace, Greece), in which he also teached.
    In 1950, he was hired in the accounting office of the Sismanoglio hospital where he worked until 1988 when he retired.
    On November 29, 2010, he received the highest honor of the officium of Lord Hymnoid of the Great Church of Christ from the Ecumenical Patriarch, Οικουμενικός Πατριάρχης Βαρθολομαίος, in the Temple of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Fanari, Istanbul (officium is an ecclesiastical honorary title, awarded to laity and to the higher or lower clergy, by a Patriarch).
