    Nonna Sukhanova (02.04.1934 — 11.06.2014) was the first jazz vocalist in the USSR famous throughout 1950-60s. She began her singing career with Оркестр Под Управлением Анатолия Бадхена, worked with experimental band conducted by Аркадий Лискович, was a soloist of Орест Кандат septet as well as of the leading Leningrad big-band - Джаз-Оркестр Иосифа Вайнштейна. Sukhanova collaborated with well-known composers and jazzmen of the time: Анатолий Кальварский, Boris Shafranov, Станислав Пожлаков, Александр Броневицкий. She often sang in English and was the first Soviet vocalist to do so.
