BOCCTAHИE (pronounced vussTANya) was a collaboration between Megan Gallacher, [a=Ed Wilson (11)], and David Khan; all artists associated with Christchurch's kRkRkRk recordings label. They formed in early 1999 and, over the next 18 months, released some of kRkRkRk's most popular, accessible and beautiful music. Emphasizing group dynamics and spontaneity, the trio defied easy categorisation - although comparisons were drawn with everything from the likes of 4AD, shoegazing Britpop and even the Spagetti Western soundtracks of Ennio Morricone. Never intended to be a live band, BOCCTAHИE only performed on four occasions. The last of these was on Easter Saturday, 2000, at the Passover event in Wellington. Following this performance, the group lapsed into inactivity.
