Swedish composer, born 16 April 1932 in Budapest, Hungary. He studied clarinet and composition at the Béla Bartók Conservatory between 1949 and 1955, and composition with Ferenc Farkas at the Liszt Academy 1955-1956. In 1957 he defected to Sweden and continued his studies for Hilding Rosenberg in Stockholm. He was elected as a member of the Association of Swedish composers in 1965. He earned a theory teaching degree at the Royal College of Music in 1969, and has been a teacher at the University of Gothenburg and the University College of Dance in Stockholm. Deáks production is large and varied. He is frequently played at concerts and on radio and represented in some 20 recordings.
