Slovenian artist, musician, painter and founder and former member of the group 'Laibach'.
Born May 18, 1961 in Trbovlje, Slovenia. Son of the Slovenian painter Janez Knez. In 1978 he formed the band 'Salte Morale'. This band evolved into Laibach during the summer holidays of 1980. Soon after, together with Tomaž Hostnik, Knez formed the side-project '300.000 V.K.'. He is working under the pseudonyms as like 'Baron Carl Von Reichenbach', A. D. Knez, Elk Eber, 'Der Sturm' or 'Operator 99 Knez'.
Dejan Knez experienced a lightning strike in 1987 and with it a kind of cosmic enlightenment, which unfortunately also resulted in a deepening bipolar disorder, which led to personality stratification and occasional episodes of manic depression. His cooperation with the parent group Laibach therefore became rather disturbed and limited after 1987, and since 2006 it was almost completely interrupted, however he remained a respected member of the group on the symbolic level.
Knez is also a painter - during the promotion of the 300.000 V.K. "Titan" CD he exhibited his paintings.
