Polish avant-garde painter, sculptor and cross-disciplinary artist (3 March 1925, Lutsk, Volhynia, now Ukraine — 8 June 2004, Warsaw). Edward Krasiński is widely regarded as one of the nation's contemporary "classics," with over 15 critically-acclaimed solo exhibitions since the early 1960s and several posthumous retrospectives, including Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, in 2017. One of Krasiński's "trademark" symbols was a blue adhesive tape, always at 1.3 meters above the ground, which he incorporated into numerous paintings, sculptures and site-specific installations. Krasiński co-founded Foksal Gallery in Warsaw in 1966. and shared a studio and apartment with painter and visual artist Henryk Stażewski (1894—1988) since 1970, which currently houses The Institute of Avant-Garde; in Krasiński's honor, the Institute preserved original interiors, complete with his iconic blue tape running along the walls.
