About

Born on April 17, 1991, in Kingston, Jamaica, Ackime Nathaniel Nephew, known artistically as Eesah, grew up between the energy of Kingston and the calmer rhythms of St. Thomas. Although music wasn't a family tradition, his passion was sparked by spending time with friends and absorbing the sounds of artists like Supercat, whose style left a lasting impression.
Eesah’s entry into the music world began not behind a microphone, but behind the mixing board. As a young audio engineer at Jah Over Evil Studio in Vineyard Town, he worked with emerging and established artists including Tony Joy, Micah Shemaiah, Exile Di Brave, Empress Sativa, Assassin, Masicka, and Romain Virgo. But his trajectory shifted during one fateful session: while working with Little Joe, the veteran artist overheard him singing and immediately told him, “What are you doing in the studio when you can sing so well?” That pivotal moment changed everything. Little Joe encouraged him to leave engineering behind and focus on his voice, teaching him how to project with more emotion and conviction.
Soon after, Eesah recorded his first track, “Red, Purple, Green and Yellow,” a weed-and-liquor anthem he self-produced. That was the spark. He later joined the 12 Tribes of Israel movement, deepening his spiritual foundation while continuing to engineer for artists like Micah Shemaiah.
At the time, he performed under the name Jahkime. His 2012 debut EP "Cannabis" — a homage to ganja culture — found fans both locally and abroad, particularly in France, Germany, and the Netherlands. In 2013, his single “Dread at the Control” — featuring Micah Shemaiah, TF (Little Briggy), Hempress Sativa, and others — became a roots anthem, later evolving into the track “Perfect Tree” with Chronixx.
In 2014, he released the EP "Believe in Love," a thoughtful 10-track exploration of love, freedom, and life. That same year, his collaboration with Chronixx on “Perfect Tree” took him on a Caribbean tour to Trinidad, Guyana, and French Guiana, earning him greater regional recognition.
Around this time, his stage name changed. The name “Eesah” comes from a slang used in St. Thomas, where people add “-sah” for emphasis, especially in jokes. The phrase “Dat bad, Eesah” expresses excitement when a riddim hits just right. Having brought that slang to Kingston, friends — especially Chronixx — began calling him Eesah. The nickname stuck, eventually replacing “Jahkime” and symbolizing a new chapter in his journey.
In 2015, Eesah co-wrote “Black Marcus,” a tribute to Marcus Garvey, and launched the Lords of the Land project with the standout track “Will Power,” which BBC Radio’s David Rodigan called “one of the most refreshing new songs outta Jamaica.” His presence on Chronixx’s 2016 mixtape "Roots and Chalice" with the track “Perfect Tree” further amplified his reach, especially thanks to its viral video.
By 2017, Eesah had connected with Swiss-based label Evidence Music, a partnership that would prove essential. In 2019, he dropped the single “Give Me Your Love” with Little Lion Sound, paving the way for what would become a significant project.
That project came in February 2022 with the release of the EP "Timeless", a refined blend of Afro-dancehall, reggae, and R&B. The eight-track project — tackling themes like love, youth struggles, and the Jamaican experience — was mostly produced by Etienne from 808 Delavega and Derrick Sound, bringing a distinct and polished sonic identity to the work. Tracks like “Live Life,” “Timeless,” “Jamaica,” and “Give Me Your Love” stood out for their warmth, upliftment, and contemporary roots energy.
In February 2024, Eesah reached a new milestone with his first full-length album "Deep Medz," produced by Loud City and King I-Vier. This 17-track opus featured major reggae figures including:
• Capleton & Lutan Fyah (“The Beginning of Time”)
• Kabaka Pyramid (“Police & Badboy”)
• Sizzla (“In the Ghetto (Remix)”)
• Million Stylez (“Red Alert”)
• Pressure Busspipe & Perfect Giddimani (“Rasta Corner”)
In 2023, Eesah completed his first European tour alongside Little Lion Sound, performing in Rome, Paris, and Geneva during Evidence Music’s 9th anniversary celebration. The experience deepened his bond with European audiences — and even gave him his first encounter with snow.
Parallel to these performances, Eesah built momentum online through a series of dubplates released with Little Lion Sound starting in 2021. The attention led to his 2024 mixtape "The Conqueror," showcasing his lyrical sharpness and ability to hold a vibe across different styles.
Now in 2025, Eesah is preparing for the release of his next LP, aptly titled "Success.", prodived by Evidence Muzik, Derrick Sound, Little Lion Sound and 808 Delavega. It marks what he calls the “stepping stone” of his career — a moment to expand globally. Currently on his fourth European tour, he continues to work with respected producers such as King I-Vier, Silly Walks, Warrior Sound, A Jal, and Juju Mula, while staying rooted in his core message.
Blending the spirit of roots reggae with the fire of dancehall, Eesah stays true to his Rastafarian identity, delivering conscious lyrics filled with spiritual insight and social commentary. Whether on a dubplate, a stage in Geneva, or a riddim from Kingston, Eesah represents the powerful voice of the new Jamaican rasta generation — grounded, gifted, and destined to make a global mark.
