American R&B singer and drummer. Born in 1925 or 1926 in Savannah, Georgia (USA). Died on April 18, 2019 in Hamilton Ontario (Canada). Gus Gordon worked extensively with William Johnson in the late 1940s and 1950s. In the early 1960s, he was a member of the Bill Caple Quartet. He moved to Canada in 1963, and continued to perform occasionally. Gus came to the Hamilton area as a singer touring with Bill Johnson and His Musical Notes during the 1940's. His early music career included performances at the Apollo Theater and time with The Ink Spots. Father of Brenda Gordon aka Brenda Russell.
