Hvalsøspillemændene

Danish quartet that developed into a folk and country rock party band. They existed from 1972 to 1979 and released three albums. The band formed in 1972 with the musician and composer Anders Roland on Østergade 1 in Hvalsø, when he and the later film director Steen Rasmussen (known from Wikke & Rasmussen) started playing together. Roland wrote the tunes while Rasmussen wrote the lyrics and was the lead singer. The band had a great replacement of musicians and apart from Anders Roland and Steen Rasmussen also Mathilde and Peter Viskinde joined the band. They disbanded in 1979, and Østergade 1 is today the assembly house in Hvalsø.
