Spanish singer (baritone), actor, and composer (born June 19, 1891 in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain - died November 23, 1972 in Mexico City, Mexico) On June 19, 1891, he was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. His parents, Antonio and Dolores, felt that something abnormal was in the throat of a child who had just been born and was screaming so loudly. The teacher Bernardino Valle transmits the first musical knowledge in the Philharmonic Academy of Gran Canaria. On November 22, 1912 Pulido made his debut as an amateur. He likes and continues to collaborate in the functions organized by the same Philharmonic and related societies that existed in Las Palmas. The applause is multiplied in the zarzuelas "La Reina Mora" and "La Banda De Trompetas" where he represents the comic character "Cara bonita" as well as one of Canarian customs, "Folias triste." He fulfills his military duties for three years, until he becomes a sergeant of the Military Health Corps and embarks for Cuba in 1920, following in the footsteps of his professor, the famous opera baritone, Canario, Néstor de la Torre, who set up an academy in Cuba, while Pulido alternates work in a commercial house with artistic adventures. Famous composers of Havana, Sanchez de Fuentes, Gonzalo Roig, Falcón, Mauri and others know and stimulate it. For them he gets to act in important festivals of Havana society and films under the direction of Ramón Peón, two silent films: Birds of passage and Casados de veras. His success as an actor and the advice of Peon, encourage him to make the leap to the United States. A week after disembarking in New York, he appears as a professional singer at the Rialto theater, Broadway with 42nd Street (Times Square), on October 7, 1923. The Hispanic colony is enthusiastic about Pulido and hires him for the main baritone role of zarzuela La cara de Dios. He consecrated himself as a singer and actor in that piece, premiered on November 25, 1923 at the Daly's Theater and continues to make major roles in Hispanic works such as: The Andalusian gazpacho, The Bohemian prince, The corsairs. Record your first albums. They are the songs, O solé mió and María Mari, a duet with Pilar Arcos. In that same year he travels to Tampa, Florida, hired to participate in a season of zarzuelas, which encamas the main characters of Benamor, windmills, the song of oblivion, the happy widow, the montería. At the end of the season he made the opera Marina for the first time, together with Hipólito Lázaro, one of the best "Jorges" that remembers the history of that famous work. Back in New York, he continues to make Spanish theater and Viennese operettas transported to Spanish. Repeats Marine, with Rodolfo Hoyos, Carlos Mejía and Margarita Cueto and signs contract in 1927 to record exclusively with the Víctor, after having done it in the main companies of then. He travels to Havana in 1928 and offers three concerts at the National Theater. Its success makes the visit repeat several times. Meanwhile, he performs in New York, records records and goes to the cinema to perform at Calas de la Paramount, with Ernesto Vilches, Encarnación López "La Argentinita" and Rosita Moreno. Go back to your land. It offers concerts in Las Palmas and until 1932 makes triumphal presentations in various countries. He brings to the stage dramatizations of his most famous songs recorded on records. He returns to Europe and has triumphed in America since 1936. Until 1944 he settled in Havana for five years. From there he goes to Mexico where he again meets Ramón Peón with whom he films a series of films. His incorporation into Mexican cinema resulted in 72 films in which he collaborated with diverse roles. In 1954 he abandoned all artistic activities, but remained in Mexico where he lived until his death in 1972.
