Jud Phillips

The elder brother of Sam Phillips and father of Jud Phillips. Jud worked as a promotions manager (and briefly a partner) with his famous brother's Sun Records company in the 1950s. Their relationship was often tempestuous but he returned to the fold several times. In 1958 he formed the Judd label but it quickly ran into financial difficulties and he passed it to Atlanta's Judd in September 1959. From 1960 to approximately 1972, he managed Jerry Lee Lewis.
