Lendvay Kalman one of the most exiting performers of the gypsy music of our time, comes from the long line of the musicians who have devoted themselves to the many colorful aspects of this music. His grandfather played for the famous robber chieftain Rossa Sandor, who invariable called for the fiery gypsy music after each successful marauding expedition, and his father carrier the tradition as the child prodigy on the cello. Lendvay Kalman himself has played with his three brothers since he was eleven years old and this closely knit family tradition is remarkable displayed in their thrilling renditions of the "true" gypsy music. In addition of being recognized as an outstanding gypsy conductor and performer through Europe, Lendvay Kalman has also appeared in several films, two of which, The Golden Cage and Opera Ball, have been shown in the United States. -- The Gay Gypsy -- Westminster - WP 6114
