English-born Canadian singer, songwriter and musician. Emigrated from England with his family in 1953, originally to Sault Ste. Marie. Started a band in the Soo called The Vendettas, which included Alex Darou. After gaining local popularity the band moved to Toronto where McKie and Darou would join Kensington Market. In 1971 he founded publishing company Sandpebble Music. Inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019
