Ludox

About

Danish Britpop-inspired electronic rock band, active 1992-98. Formed in Thisted in 1992 under the name Frantic by five high school friends, vocalist/keyboardist Jeppe Laursen, guitarist/violinist/keyboardist Filip Nikolic, guitarist Nis Søgaard, drummer Vitus Bagge Nielsen, and bassist Mads Bechgaard. Søgaard was replaced by guitarist Morten Malle Kristensen in spring 1994, and with this lineup the band won the 1994 edition of "DM i Rock" under the name Ludo. Shortly hereafter the band changed their name to Ludo X and a promotional single Time Is Not Enough / I Wish I Were Jim was released in August 1994. In spring 1995 Kristensen was replaced by guitarist/keyboardist Jesper Mortensen, and in June same year the band relocated to Copenhagen. Self-produced debut album Ludox was released in October 1995, now as Ludox. Mortensen left the band in April 1996 and, reduced to a quartet, the band continued until 1998 when they split up. Same year Jeppe Laursen and Jesper Mortensen got back together and formed Junior Senior. The debut album was re-released in 2003 under the title Is This For Real?.
