Canadian country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist born December 5, 1940 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He moved to Ompah, Ontario as a young child and then to Ottawa in 1959 to attend Carleton University, where he became part of the local folk and country scene. In 1980 he founded and launched the Canadian country music newspaper Capital Country News which was re-branded to Country Music News.
Named Canadian Country Music Association’s Country Music Person of the Year in 1984.
Inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994.
