    Nordjysk Pigekor

Danish girls choir from North Jutland, originated from a childrens choir in Frederikshavn in the 1930s. Since then, the choir had a changeable life as a mixed girls and boys choir in connection with Frederikshavns Folkemusikskole (Frederikshavn Folk Music School). In 1954, Tage Mortensen became manager of the vocal section of the folk music school and established an elite choir, "Folkemusikskolens pigekor" (The Folk Music School's Girls' Choir) based on the core of the children's choir. When Tage Mortensen left Frederikshavn in 1956, the choir continued its activities with interruptions and under different leaders. In 1962 Tage Mortensen again took over, and in 1964 the choir became a self-governing institution and named "Nordjysk Pigekor".
