    Palankin

The band Palankin began shortly after instrumentalist Tiago married singer Ana Rock. After forming the band, the couple released their first EP at the end of 2016 with hit songs such as “Pulsante” and “Bonecos de Plástico”. With musical influences ranging from classic rock to alternative, folk and experimental, the band brings a different proposal to the national scene and an impactful message with a conviction of purpose that has been surprising audiences. Anyone who attends a Palankin performance is faced with a totally innovative, surprising, visceral and intense artistic proposal. The band has released on all platforms the album “Dia e Noite - Parte I: and Dia e Noite - Parte 2, the EPs ‘Cansados de Religião 1’ and ‘Cansados de Religião 2’, ‘Mente Brilhante’ and the latest single ‘Espinho na Carne’. Palankin is the German variation of the word Palanquin, which is a chair from the East, made of wood and designed to be carried by servants. It was first built to carry the sick, but over time, other types of people took to this way of getting around, such as royalty and important figures in society. In Sanskrit, the word means bed (a place of rest and intimacy) and couch (a place for socializing). Palankins were used to carry the king to places outside his palace.
