Raiko

Born December 30th, 1980 in Cape Town, South Africa, Raiko is a true soldier of the South African hip-hop movement, having established himself as a DJ, producer, broadcaster, promoter and writer, since his career began in 1998.

One of the most hard-working DJs on the South African hip hop circuit, as one third of Abnormal Detail, a group which features Gini Grindith and Hymphatic Thabs, as well as being the tour DJ for Ben Sharpa, Raiko is also known for his eclectic sets underpinned by the classic 90s Golden Era hip hop sound.

As a promoter, he was a member of amuchDarkerPromotions, an independent production company that was responsible for a number of legendary Cape Town hip hop events, such as Boogie Down Knights (1998-2001), Wordlife (2000-2001) and The Lounge Sessions (2003-2006). Having relocated to downtown Johannesburg since, Raiko has deejayed alongside some of the finest hip-hop DJs nationally and internationally, including Ready D (ZA), DJ Hamma (ZA), Big Dre (ZA), DJ Spair (US), DJ Kofi (UK), DJ Semtex (UK), Asif (UK), DJ Woody (UK), Mr. Thing (UK) and DJ Kim (FR).
