Mauritanian husband and wife duo, both from griot families from the Tagant region. Sidaty (1924-2019) was considered the greatest male singer of the twentieth century and widely understood to have written Mauritania's original post-independence national anthem (he wrote the lyrics but not the melody). Their daughter, Dimi Mint Abba, is considered the greatest female singer, and is one of very few Moorish musicians known outside of Mauritania, another being their stepgranddaughter, Noura Mint Seymali.
The duo's only commercial recordings (there were countless informal private recordings, as well as radio and television appearances) were for Morocco's Boussiphone label in the 1960's.
