"Blue-eyed soul singer", born July 1, 1945, in New Orleans, James "Skip" Easterling's mother soon moved to Slidell, Louisiana. Easterling released singles starting in 1964 on Alon.
Successful only in and around New Orleans, he had his big hit in 1971 with the funky rendition of Willie Dixon's "Hoochie Koochie Man" on Instant Records (6).
Released at the same time as New Orleans Jean Knight's #1 national hit "Mr. Big Stuff", in New Orleans the Skip Easterling song was #1, & kept Knight's smash at #2.
