British musician, singer, composer, and producer best known as a guitarist in the mid to late 1970's London punk scene. Stephen Charles New was born in London on 16 May 1960, and by 1976, still 15 years old, auditioned for the Sex Pistols. In 1977, he joined Glen Matlock's post-Pistols band, Rich Kids, after which he performed mainly as a session musician and contributed guitar to a number of other artists.
In the early 2000s, New came out as transgender and took the name Stella Nova. From 2004 until her death, she performed with Beatrice Brown in Beastellabeast. Stella died of cancer on 24 May 2010.
