American session violinist. Was classically trained at Juilliard School.
Born 1949 or 1950 in Tennessee and died Sunday, May 27, 1979 (aged 29) of an apparent heart attack.
Formerly with the New Jersey Symphony and the Miami Philharmonic. Buried Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
At age 12, Smith was a featured soloist with the Nashville Symphony. He was a member of the Tennessee All-State Orchestra and the recipient of many Blair Academy Solo Awards. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, he toured with the Julliard String Ensemble. During one tour, he played with the Spoletto Symphony in Italy.
Played on many legendary country recordings.
He was brother of Taylor Rhodes, a songwriter, producer, and musician.
He was brother-in-law to Randy Scruggs.
And his neice is Lindsey Scruggs.
