Danish singer, songwriter, guitarist, engineer and producer, born 26 February 1950 in Birkerød in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen. Best known for the successful Rugsted/Kreutzfeldt duo, active 1977 to 1985 and again from 2006, and for his work as producer for a large number of Danish artists. Since 1986 owner of Stig Kreutzfeldt Studio, renamed to Stig Kreutzfeldt Studio in the late 1990's.
Kreutzfeldt began his professional career in 1967 as additional guitarist with Lollipops (at the beginning behind the scenes). With Steen Toft Andersen he formed the duo Stig & Steen in the early 1970's and then became co-lead singer of Ache from 1975 to 1976. In 1976 Kreutzfeldt was headhunted by Freddy Hansson for Hansson's new Stig Kreutzfeldt Studio, where he helped build the studio from scratch. Until 1981 he worked there as a permanent freelance technician and producer.
In 1977 he met Jens Rugsted in Sweet Silence. The first two Rugsted/Kreutzfeldt albums were released in 1979 and 1980, and a major national breakthrough came after a TV appearance in March 1981. Kreutzfeldt also served as A&R manager and producer for Stig Kreutzfeldt Studio and was appointed director of the Danish division in 1979, but he had to leave this position when Rugsted/Kreutzfeldt broke through in 1981.
In the Sweet Silence era, Kreutzfeldt worked with international artists such as Oscar Peterson, Cat Stevens, Ringo Starr and Danish artists such as C. V. Jørgensen and Bifrost. Later he also produced for Sebastian, Sanne Salomonsen, Lis Sørensen, Lex & Klatten and Brdr. Olsen, for whom he produced the winner of the year 2000 Eurovision Song Contest Fly On The Wings Of Love / Smuk Som Et Stjerneskud.
Kreutzfeldt has released three solo albums, Stig Kreutzfeldt (1983), Der Er Kun Én (1987) and the "Kreutzfeldts Kreutzfeldts [Aeternus]" project (1999) inspired by the Middle Ages and folk music and structured as a long sequence of songs linked together by ambient intros and synthetic sound design.
