    Sydney Bernard Kyte was a British bandleader and musician (mostly on violin). Born June 1, 1896 in London, England; died July 29, 1981 in Chelmsford, Essex, England, aged 85. Kyte studied piano, violin and viola at the Royal Academy of Music on a scholarship. He saw action during the First World War. Kyte played violin and was deputy leader with the Savoy Orpheans during the 1920s. From 1930, he led his own dance orchestra with long residencies at London's Piccadilly Hotel. He remained active until the 1950s. Kyte was an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music and Music Director to the Duke of Westminster. Kyte married his wife Amy in London in 1928.
