About

Early 60s doo wop / soul vocal quartet from Los Angeles.

Based on an amateur night performance at LA’s Fox Theater, the quartet of Leon Peels (lead), Van Earl Richardson (tenor), Alexander Manigo (tenor) and Leonard Davidson (bass) were signed with Werly Fairburn’s Milestone Label.

Their first and only hit song, “Lovers Island,” was released in 1961 and reached Number 31 on the Billboard chart. Subsequent singles went nowhere and the group broke up in 1962.
