About

New York punk/hardcore band active from 1982 to 1986; they recorded two demo tapes but only one was properly released (the [r=7140119] tape).

Plagued throughout their history by frequent lineup changes, the band was based around guitarist Stu and drummer Billy Psycho.
The Psychos changed vocalists and bassists on a regular basis, this prevented the band from playing live as frequently as other bands.
Roger Miret, an early member of the band, left to become vocalist for Agnostic Front. Miret took two Psychos songs he had written, "Discriminate Me" and "Fight," and brought them with him to Agnostic Front. Both songs ended up on Agnostic Front's debut 7", "United Blood."
NYC speed metallers Anthrax was looking for a vocalist for a side-project, Stormtroopers Of Death (S.O.D.), he got the Psychos' Billy Milano to fill the role.
The only vinyl appearance by the Psychos was on the 1985 "One Big Crowd" compilation on Javi Savage's Big City Records label which included hardcore bands from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
After many other line-up changes, the Psychos broke up for good in 1986.

Known line ups:
Stu guitar, vocals // Roger Miret bass // Billy Psycho drums (1982-1983)
Steve Psycho vocals // Stu guitar // Roger Miret bass // Billy Psycho drums (1983-1984)
Steve Psycho vocals // Stu guitar // Phil bass // Billy Psycho drums (1984, this lineup recorded their first demo tape)
Big Rob vocals // Stu guitar // Billy Milano bass // Billy Psycho drums (1984-early 1985, this lineup recorded the [r7140119] demo tape)
Stu guitar // Billy Milano bass // Billy Psycho drums (one show with various crowd members singing on March 3, 1985)

Carl Dimola vocals // Stu guitar // Bob Mario (Bob Cuomo, ex-Krakdown) bass // Billy Psycho drums (1985)
Tommy Rat vocals // Stu guitar // Bob Cuomo bass // Billy Psycho drums (Oct. 1985-1986)

Tommy Rat and Stu Psycho would then leave to start Trip 6, taking many Psychos songs with them.
