The World Mänkeri Orchestra

The World Mänkeri Orchestra (founded 1984) is a group firmly based on Finnish traditions, improvising new things and creating new sounds and instruments. Besides all the other things TWMO is highly specialized in old Finnish wind instruments, reeds and flutes. You might call it "world music", "free folk" or "jazz"... You never know. TWMO has made records, tv- and radio programmes and in addition to its own concerts in Finland and abroad the group has taken part in various music festivals. TWMO has also made film and theatre music and co-operation with various artists. The World Mänkeri Orchestra has been a pathfinder in improvised music for almost 30 years and is still going strong! New instruments and unexpected sounds make TWMO a unique experience.
