About

Zeitgeist is an American new music chamber ensemble founded in 1977 at Macalester College in St. Paul by a small group of musicians drawn together by their love of minimalist music. The band comprises of two percussion sets, piano and woodwinds. They commissioned over 150 works and collaborated with such composers as Frederic Rzewski, Terry Riley, John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, Paul Dresher, Mark Applebaum, Scott Lindroth, Libby Larsen and Jin Hi Kim. Zeitgeist also works with poets, choreographers, directors, visual artists and sound artists to create new work that challenges the boundaries of traditional chamber music.
