    Aleksandra "Alya" Nikolayevna Pakhmutova (born November 9, 1929). Soviet and Russian composer, pianist, author of more than 400 songs. Studied at the Moscow Conservatory and graduated in 1953. She has remained one of the best-known figures in Soviet popular music since she first achieved fame in her homeland in the 1960s. She was awarded the People's Artist of the USSR in 1964.
