After V. Mulyavin's death in 2003, Valery Skorozhonok was appointed to the post of director of the Belarusian state ensemble Pesnyary (Белорусский Государственный Ансамбль Песняры), which caused discontent among most of the team, led by Leonid Bortkevich, who returned in 1999. As a result, the dissatisfied musicians formed their own collective, the leader of which was Leonid Bortkevich. In February 2004, part of the ensemble, headed by the director Igor Svechkin, separated from the ensemble and began an independent tour. It turned out, as it were, two members of the same group. At the end of 2008, the group split again. Some of the musicians, headed by Sergei Medvedev, now work under the name Lyavony Folk Group "Фолк-группа "Лявоны." Bortkevich's Pesnyary are performing with a new line-up.
There is also a second line-up of the collective under the direction of Igor Svechkin (Песняры И. Свечкина aka VIAPESNIRI) in which: Viktor Molchanov, Vladimir Marusich, Pavel Zayats, Vladimir Stamati, Alexander Vislavsky (created in February 2004), which is officially considered part of the group of Leonid Bortkevich
