Russian conductor (born 1946 in Gorky – died February 27, 2006 in St. Petersburg)
Sergei Kalagin studied choral conducting at the Gorky Conservatory and opera and symphony conducting at the Leningrad Conservatory.
Between 1975 and 1980, he directed the Leningrad Academic Maly Opera and Ballet Theater.
From 1980-1989 conductor of the Kazan Symphony Orchestra / Симфонический Оркестр Татарской Государственной Филармонии Имени Г. Тукая.
From 1989-1991 he worked in the chamber musical theater "St. Petersburg Opera".
In 1991 he became a conductor of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg; From 2001 to 2004 he was simultaneously the chief conductor of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.
