About

"1755" is an iconic Acadian band from New Brunswick (Canada) though they have had a massive influence across Francophone Canada, especially in Quebec.
Founded in 1975, the group is credited with modernizing Acadian music by blending traditional folk with country and rock, and for being one of the first major acts to sing openly in Chiac (an Acadian-French dialect). Their name refers to the year 1755, which marked the beginning of the Great Upheaval (the deportation of the Acadian people by the British, principally to Louisiana).
They are considered legends in the history of Acadia and were instrumental in the "Acadian Renaissance" of the late 20th century. One of their most famous tracks, "Le monde a bien changé", was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022. After decades of touring and several breakups, the band officially announced their final concerts for October 2025, marking the end of a 50-year career.
