Alan Previto

Singer and musician in the secular and Christian song market from the USA.

Born 1948 and raised in Mobile, Alabama. Previto was raised as Alan Benjamin Levy but after his father passed when he was aged 10 he took his stepfather adopted him and he took his surname, Previto. He attended on the University of South Alabama whilst involved in the Youth for Christ movement. He plays six string bass, guitar, piano, harmonica, drums and tuba. He released a solo album then formed the New Expression folk group which sang at church and youth gatherings throughout the South before joining the folk vocal group The New World Singers.

He later studied Rabbinics at Hebrew College (Boston, MA) and Philosophy of Religion and Philosophical Theology at Boston University. He also studied Pastoral Counseling and Psychology of Religion.
