American American radio & TV organist, pianist and songwriter. Born June 28, 1903 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. Died April 3, 1995 age of 91 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Leaf appeared as piano soloist with the Omaha Symphony when she eleven. At sixteen, she received a scholarship to Juilliard in New York. A year later she became interested in the pipe organ and returned to Omaha to study. When her family moved to Los Angeles in the 1920s, she began a career as a concert and silent-movie organist that included solo positions at many of Los Angeles' movie palaces. During the silent movie era, Leaf also concertized in nearly every major city in the U.S. The advent of talkies led to a career in radio, which included the CBS network's nightly New York show Nocturne, in which she starred for over a decade. She was slo known for Midnight Melodies and Three Consoles. Her continuing radio credits are too numerous to mention. She was one of the first members to be entered into the American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS) in 1981. Miss Leaf was just 4'11" tall.
