One of the people credited with creating the musical genre Exotica, which is noted for Afro-Cuban rhythms, unusual instruments, jungle animal sounds, and romantic tone.
1990: Winner of a Nā Hōkū Hanohano Lifetime Achievement Award under the auspices of the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts.
