About

Swedish new wave/punk band.
In 1976, 15-year-old Tony Lindlöf (guitar and vocals) came home from a language trip in England. With him was the newly released "Anarchy in the U.K." This was the prelude to Badboll being started with the two friends since kindergarten at home in Nacka, Janne Lagerström (bass and vocals) and Håkan Bengtsson (drums and vocals). Bands like The Who, The Kinks, Ramones and the entire Nuggets League made them feel it was possible. In the beginning, they were a pure cover band that scratched in Janne's boys' room until the day his parents got tired. Then the crystal cabinet had exploded, a small amplifier fire had broken out and neighbors who called the police.
In 1978, they were ready to record the debut single "Valen". Håkan's accordion playing father had to act as a producer, something that contributed to the kind soundscape. They each sang a song on the single which they released in 500 copies.
Badboll was never part of the indoor punk gang and they were never a protest band or took the point style very seriously. All three came from secure upbringing and the main reason they played in bands was to be trusted and to have girls. They got a record contract with EMI and went for a more pop-influenced sound with the two new members Peter Wivstam (vocals) and Per Nyberg (guitar). Janne Anderson (Four Mandarines, JAPOP etc) produced and the EP became a minor hit and sold a few thousand copies. "Apple cake" went all the way to the Swedish top. In addition to gigs at Bobadilla, Ritz and Rock Palias, they also got to accompany their teammates Gyllene Tider on tour and even got to sign autographs - until the fans realized that they were not Gyllene Tider.
The following year, the band split and Janne, Håkan and Peter started Pang, Pang. Peter then joined the French Revolution, while Janne under the name Janne Lagersroem & the Hydrophones released Polygrams best-selling single of all time. He later released a CD-EP with the band Lager and then started the band Ramånes together with Peter. Of course, they only played Ramones songs. In addition to touring, they have also released two CDs and a DVD.
In 2011, more Badboll songs suddenly appeared. On the one hand, a CD-EP with four remaining songs from 1981 was released, and on the other hand, Janne compiled the CD "Lagerström's greatest hits" in one hundred copies for his 50th birthday. There he put in a few more unreleased songs with Badboll.
