Ben Howard

Ben Howard is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist born April 24, 1987 in London, raised in Totnes, Devon. Beginning as a busker on the beaches of the South West and building a following through relentless touring, he became one of the most successful British folk artists of the early 2010s — before undertaking a dramatic stylistic reinvention that prioritised atmosphere and experimentation over the accessible melodicism that made his name.

Every Kingdom (2011) was a debut of remarkable warmth and emotional directness — Old Pine and Keep Your Head Up in particular became staples of the indie folk landscape, earning him a Mercury Prize nomination and two Brit Awards. I Forget Where We Were (2014) was a deliberate departure: darker, more abstract, and far less immediately accessible, confounding listeners who expected a follow-up of similar brightness.
