Bennett Sisters

American vocal group active from circa 1936 until 1945.
The group was originally a trio, consisting of three Means sisters: Maxine, Charlie Bell, and Marguerite, who first recorded with bandleader Clyde McCoy in 1936 under the name Symphonettes. The sisters did not want to be called "Means Sisters," so they named themselves the "Bennett Sisters" after the actress Constance Bennett who was popular at the time. The three sisters were later joined by their younger sister Billie Jane. The group was retired in 1945 when Maxine married McCoy.
