About

Australian jazz violinist, band leader and vocalist. He was born on 13 August 1909 in Adelaide, and died on 11 September 1983 in Sydney, aged 74.

He recorded in Australia from 1926-1927, and later had a very extensive recording career in Britain (1931-1940), beginning as part of the vocal duo Eddie & Rex (1931-1933), as a vocalist with Bertini's Blackpool Tower Orchestra, Maurice Winnick, Jay Wilbur, Harry Leader, Harry Hudson, Debroy Somers, Carroll Gibbons, Louis De Vries, Arthur Young, The Six Swingers, Jack Hylton, Lew Stone, Mario "Harp" Lorenzi, Louis Levy and others, as well as many recordings under his own name as a solo vocalist and band leader.

He returned to Australia in 1940 to take up a position at the new Romano's nightclub in Sydney. He also recorded as a vocalist with various Australian groups.
