Buckshot

Buckshot (real name Kenyatta Blake) is a Brooklyn-born rapper, best known as the leader of the influential hip-hop collective Boot Camp Clik and a founding member of the group Black Moon.
Buckshot emerged in the early 1990s as a key figure in the underground hip-hop scene, making his debut with Black Moon’s 1993 classic album Enta da Stage. The album, with its raw production and gritty lyricism, helped define the New York boom-bap sound and played a major role in shaping the 90s underground movement. Beyond Black Moon, Buckshot expanded his influence as the head of Duck Down Music, an independent label he co-founded, which became home to acts like Smif-N-Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, and O.G.C.. His leadership at Duck Down helped establish it as a powerhouse for independent hip-hop throughout the 90s and 2000s.
As part of Boot Camp Clik, he contributed to albums like For the People (1997) and The Last Stand (2006), showcasing his ability to unite and push forward a collective of highly skilled MCs. He is also a member of Crooklyn Dodgers, The Great 8 and BD 'N Boogie, further cementing his legacy as a versatile and respected artist. Over the years, Buckshot has collaborated with numerous hip-hop legends, including KRS-One, 9th Wonder, and Talib Kweli. His joint projects with 9th Wonder, such as Chemistry (2005) and The Formula (2008), demonstrated his ability to adapt to different production styles while maintaining his signature delivery and lyricism.
