Townsend (1942), Ernie Fields (1942), Tiny Bradshaw (1943), Andy Kirk (1943-'47), in his own group ("The Peppermint Sticks"), Count Basie (1951-'52), in his own small group, Bill Doggett, "Kansas City All Stars", Clark Terry, Dave Wilborn, Ted Buckner, Milt Buckner and others.
