Cathal Coughlan (born December 16, 1960 - died May 18, 2022) is one of Ireland's great alternative heroes. Emerging from Cork at the start of the 1980s, Coughlan first came in the spotlight with Microdisney and then with the Fatima Mansions. His perpetual inability, or unwillingness, to provide commercially successful music has led to major disputes with record companies and the successive disintegration of aforementioned bands. Before his untimely death he was involved with Jacknife Lee in Telefís.
