South African jazz pianist, composer and bandleader of the Blue Notes and Brotherhood of Breath. Born: December 24, 1936 in Umtata (or) in Somerset West, South Africa, as the son of a Scottish missionary. Died: May 26, 1990 in Ager, France. He was in exile from South Africa since 1963.
