Born: August 31, 1922 Died: May 19, 1997 Chuck Wells was a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He originally found some level of musical success in Texas, working at several night spots throughout the Fort Worth area. He was also appearing over radio stations KCNC and KCUL in Fort Worth, too. By 1954, Chuck and his band were working at the Imperial Club in Galveston, Texas. He wrote many of his tunes. At one time, he recorded with King Records, and he recorded with Columbia as well. Eventually Chuck settled in Nashville, working for Newkeys Inc. as a songwriter. Two of his songs, "Down And Out"/"Good Morning, Fool", were recorded with him as the singer and released by the Newkeys Inc. affiliated Rice Records in 1965. Chuck eventually retired to his native Alabama, where he died in 1997.
