Born 9th December 1940 in Dean Pen, St. Mary (Jamaica), Clancy Eccles was a successful ska and reggae vocalist. He moved to Kingston in 1959, where he got discovered and signed by Coxsone Dodd. In 1961, he released his first singles. In 1965 he resigned from music business and worked as a tailor, only to come back in 1967 with self-produced hit singles. Through the 1970s, Eccles massively supported the People's National Party and played on various political happenings. He died June 30, 2005 from an apoplectic stroke.
