Clubs & Spades

Clubs & Spades consists of two MCs (Matic Mouth & [a=Shinobi (11)]) and two producers / beatmakers (Andy Nicholson & Manakin) with one aim, to create unique, original, artist-themed music for the masses. No strangers to the stage, each has earned their stripes in their chosen areas and now they have combined their efforts and love of music to create something far greater than the sum of its parts.

After releasing a free introductory online album entitled ‘Stand Up’ and a follow-up E.P. called ‘Card Gang One’, Clubs & Spades have continued to consistently make music that is of its own standard, demonstrating that all they need is, what they came with!

Opening stages for the likes of Public Enemy, Pharoahe Monch, M.O.P. and Sister Sledge has cleared away any clouds of doubt over whether they can carry their own. The four continue to execute without error, winning crowds over every step of the way.

The body of Clubs & Spades is held up by its musical backbone, the production duo Sticky Blood. After creating a very unique and artistic buzz with ‘Stand Up’ and ‘Card Gang One’, Sticky Blood have gone on to work with artists who are in favour of a more ‘individual, self-themed’ sound for themselves. Recent projects have seen them produce a range of material in various formats, for major-label based artists like Tom Prior or more independent ones, such as Terri Walker.

Always looking to break down barriers and create new sounds by utilising sampling techniques or learning and playing live instruments, the musical backbone of Clubs & Spades certainly looks set to stand the test of time.

Their unique blend of hip-hop merged with a rebellious pop/punk/rock sound produced through the use of a live guitar and drum kit, is what provides the audience with a fresh sound and sets them apart from the rest of any line-up.
