About

Cui Jian is known as the "godfather" of Chinese rock. A former trumpet player in a State orchestra, he joined the band Ado and started to experiment with rock in the late 80s. His song "I Have Nothing To My Name" became the first Chinese rock hit in 1987 and was included in various local pop compilation cassettes. Cui Jian is from the Chinese ethnic Korean minority.
