About

French electronic musician.

Originally from Argenteuil, Fabien Le François, aka Curtis, spent 25 years of a full life there. In high school, he formed the band [a=Weirdo (7)], where he played guitar and sang. The Indie dance music scene from Manchester was the main influence on this budding group. Some time later, the band self-produced an EP that garnered some critical acclaim in England. But after five years, the spark had faded, and the band broke up. Curtis then bought an old drum machine and a tiny monophonic synthesizer and started experimenting with electronic music. The album "Grand Hotel" was released in March 1999. Curtis then toured the world as a DJ at Respect parties. In May 2000, the compilation Curtis Sound Machine was released. On the production side, Curtis enlisted the services of Hugo Nicolson, responsible, among other things, for the sound of Primal Scream's Screamadelica. With guest vocals from Benjamin Diamond and Denise Johnson, the band A.S. Dragon, and a horn section, Curtis delivered a second album called "Transfer" in 2002 where he combined electronic and acoustic elements.
In 2024, Fabien Lefrançois released a synthwave album called "Timeless Echoes" under the moniker [a=OFFLINE (9)].
