Dark Male

Colin Dale's brother Mark Dale, also known as Dark Male, has been part of the electronic music scene since the early 1990s. At just 16 years old, he began his career at Passion Records on London's Oxford Street. Working with and selling music to Djs such as Noodles, Jumping Jack Frost, 4 Hero, Dave Angel, Frankie Valentine, Lemon D to name some — eventually becoming one of the shop's Euro and Techno buyers while also writing techno reviews for the magazine Check Dis. His DJ career began in London's warehouse party scene, playing events such as World Party, Spiral Tribe and Evolution, where his sets blended disco-breakbeat, house and techno. From there, he progressed to playing at London clubs, making his West End debut at Knowledge alongside brother Colin Dale, Colin Faver and Brenda Russell before establishing himself across Europe's club circuit. Throughout the 1990s and beyond, Mark became a regular fixture in clubs across Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, France and Switzerland. He held residencies at Deep Space, Vapour Space, Growth, Cyclone, Stasis, Electric Underground, Éclat, Digisole, Eclectrionik and his own events, Electric Boogie and Megawatt. His appearances also include venues such as Ministry of Sound, The End, Egg, The Fridge, Heaven, Ultimate Base, Tresor (Berlin), The Cave Club (Austria) and Douala (Germany). Alongside DJing, Mark has featured in publications and radio stations interviews including Magic Feet (UK), Lemon (Greece), Cool FM (Greece), D.R.S.3 (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), Apple FM (UK) and Groovetech Radio, where he hosted a monthly show. As a producer, Mark has released music under both Dark Male and his own name. His debut release, "Nightlife" on Groovetech Records, remixed by Asad Rizvi, received recognition after appearing on Terry Francis' Fabric mix compilation and Sancho Panza's Carnival compilation. He followed this with "Rain God / Deep Blue" on Purpose Records, released as Mark Dale and later featured on the Beyond the Darkness LP on King Size Records. Since then, Mark has continued to release music on respected labels including Eukahouse, Fourier Transform, Abstrakt Dance and Cross Section, while also running Electric Boogie Publishing. Decades into his career, he remains dedicated to producing electronic music, drawing on a lifetime of experience.
