David Odlum began his career busking on the streets of Dublin with his brother Karl Odlum before joining Kíla. He left them to form The Frames with Colm Mac Con Iomaire, who had also played with Kíla, and fellow busker Glen Hansard. He left The Frames to produce and engineer for other bands and artists, including Gemma Hayes and Nina Hynes.
